Tour #1:  JEWS IN SAN FRANCISCO

Rothmann is a descendent of several pioneer Jewish families.  Moment Magazine described John as "the son of a Bransten, the grandson of a Haas and the nephew of a Lilienthal."  He is featured in the film American Jerusalem, the definitive story of the coming of the Jews to San Francisco.  John will lead you through the waves of Jewish immigration the "Gold Rush" which brought the pioneers to San Francisco of the 1840's and 1850's, to the modern-day gold rush where dot commers have emigrated West to make their fortunes. During this tour you will see and explore the pioneer heritage of yesterday, the growth of the Jewish community of today, the reaction to the Holocaust and the rise of Israel and Zionism, plus visit the sites that are unique to San Francisco and much more.  His tours of Jewish San Francisco provide a rare opportunity to see and understand this unique and special community which has a distinguished past and a vibrant future.
